Wegovy in Thailand: registration, prescriptions and costs

An official-source guide to Thai FDA registration, the latest GLP-1 prescription rules, and understanding the real cost of treatment.

Sources reviewed: 23 October 2026·No claim of live stock or quoted price

Wegovy is a brand of semaglutide used for weight management under its authorised product label. In Thailand, it is important to distinguish three things: registration with the Thai FDA, legal prescription and dispensing, and whether a particular clinic or pharmacy currently has a genuine product available. Registration alone does not prove local stock or an individual patient's suitability.

01 · Check registrationSearch the exact brand and strength in the Thai FDA medicines register.
02 · Use the prescription pathwayConfirm that a qualified prescriber assesses suitability and issues the prescription where required.
03 · Ask for a complete quoteSeparate doctor visits, investigations, medicine and follow-up rather than comparing headline pen prices.

Is Wegovy registered in Thailand?

Yes, specified Wegovy FlexTouch presentations appear in the official Thai FDA drug register. The Thai FDA's semaglutide listing includes Wegovy 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg FlexTouch presentations. The official entry for Wegovy 0.5 mg FlexTouch lists Thai registration number 1C 15054/66 (NBC) and an authorisation date of 3 August 2023. A product registration is specific to its brand, formulation and label; it is not interchangeable with registration of other semaglutide products.

Use the Thai FDA semaglutide listings and the official Wegovy 0.5 mg record to check the exact medicine. Ask the prescriber or dispensing pharmacist to confirm that the pack and serial information match the approved product.

Do you need a prescription for GLP-1 injections in Thailand?

Yes. The Thai FDA announced that injectable GLP-1 medicines are treated as specially controlled medicines from 15 September 2026. In modern pharmacies, dispensing requires a doctor's prescription and handover by a pharmacist. The announcement also describes stronger supply-chain tracing intended to address counterfeit and unauthorised products. Confirm the applicable prescribing pathway with a licensed clinician or pharmacist; this is not an over-the-counter purchase guide.

What should a medical consultation cover?

The Thai FDA product record sets out labelled eligibility criteria and indications. A prescribing clinician should assess whether treatment is indicated in light of personal medical history, current medicines and possible contraindications. Ask how benefits and adverse effects will be monitored, whether laboratory tests are appropriate, and what happens if treatment must be changed or discontinued.

Commonly discussed side effects of semaglutide include nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea; more serious adverse effects and precautions are detailed in the approved medicine information. Do not interpret the existence of a registered strength as personal dosing advice or use unverified compounded products as equivalents.

How much does Wegovy treatment cost in Thailand?

There is no single verified consumer price for every clinic or pharmacy in Thailand. Actual charges and current availability vary. Rather than invent a nationwide medicine price, ask a provider for a written breakdown covering the initial consultation, any necessary tests, the exact product dispensed, injection training if needed, and scheduled follow-up. Confirm which items are optional or included and the total in Thai baht (THB).

How do you assess a Bangkok or Thailand clinic?

Start by verifying the provider's professional credentials and asking who will prescribe and monitor treatment. Check the exact brand, whether the provider can obtain it through lawful channels, how follow-up is arranged, and how problems or suspected counterfeit packs are handled. Do not assume every hospital in a general directory offers Wegovy prescribing.

Wegovy versus other semaglutide products

Wegovy and some other medicines contain semaglutide, but their approved indications, presentations and labels may differ. Verify each product separately rather than transferring a registration, price or treatment plan from one brand to another. Our semaglutide research overview explains the broader comparison.

Questions people ask

Does registration mean Wegovy is in stock?

No. Registration establishes the status of a defined product; it does not confirm a clinic's current inventory or a particular presentation's availability.

Can I purchase Wegovy without a prescription in Thailand?

Thai FDA guidance effective September 15, 2026 requires a prescription for injectable GLP-1 medicines dispensed through modern pharmacies. Obtain individual advice from a qualified medical professional.

Is a quoted pen price the full cost?

Not necessarily. Ask whether consultations, tests, education and follow-up are included.
